Erica

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Erica, a dedicated Licensed Veterinary Technician, joined the Firgrove Veterinary Clinic team in February 2020, but her career in veterinary medicine began in 1998. She has worked with four different clinics over those years before bringing her wealth of technical expertise, commitment to teamwork, and positive spirit to our clinic.

Erica has always loved animals. At a time in her life when she needed direction, her dad pointed Erica toward the Veterinary Technician program at Pierce College, and she never looked back. After earning her degree, Erica began her journey in 1998 and, over the course of the next two decades, built a well-rounded career in a general practice setting, with a focus on anesthesia and surgery.

In past positions, Erica served as lead technician, overseeing appointment flow, doctor support, and prescription processing; she also spent seven years as a surgery technician. Today at Firgrove, she enjoys a variety of technician services, from hands-on patient care to client communication.

Erica’s passion and joy for helping others keep her engaged day after day. She finds that helping animals and people live better lives makes her own life better, too. That outlook shapes how she works with her team.

"I take great pride in my work," Erica shared. "I believe in doing the 'we' work before the 'me' work. I would rather ask a 'stupid' question than make a stupid mistake." Hardworking and a great listener, she is a teammate others can count on.

Among her favorite parts of Firgrove are her co-workers, the clients, and, of course, the pets. She especially values that our clinic puts patient care ahead of financial gain, a commitment that matches her own belief in doing what's best for every animal.

Education

Volunteer Work

Erica is a member of the Washington State Association of Veterinary Technicians (WSAVT), a non-profit organization that keeps her connected with others in the field in Washington State and aims to advance veterinary technology statewide.

Home Life

Erica’s compassion for others shines through in all she does, including outside of work. At home, she enjoys watching the birds that visit her feeder and feeding the wild bunnies, squirrels, and deer that frequent her yard. She is also a caregiver for her partner, who is being treated for urothelial cancer and has severe neuropathy.
